1. Wear Your Aligners For At Least 22 Hours Per Day
The first (and best) tip for wearing Invisalign is to follow the instructions that Dr. Bower gives you, which includes wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours per day, at a minimum. If you don’t do this, your treatment time will be greatly increase.
2. Plan Meals And Snacks Around Your Treatment
You should not drink anything besides water when wearing Invisalign, because the aligners can be discolored by dark beverages, which will make them more obvious when you’re wearing them. In addition, try to break your snacks and meals up into “blocks”, and eat quickly so that you can clean your mouth and re-insert your aligners in a timely manner.
3. Hold Onto Your Previous Set Of Aligners
Dr. Bower will provide you with 2-3 sets of aligners each time you come in for an oral exam. You’ll wear each set for about 2 weeks.
Don’t throw away your old aligners when you get a new set. You may need them if you lose a new aligner, or in the event that your new aligner is misplaced or damaged. Your old aligner won’t help your teeth move into a new position, but it will keep them in the same place while a replacement is made for you.
4. Wear Your Retainer Every Day After Treatment
If Dr. Bower gives you a retainer after your treatment, wear it exactly as he tells you. If you don’t, your teeth will begin to shift back towards their original position, and your treatment will have been wasted.
If a retainer is necessary, wear it every day, and make sure that you follow Dr. Bower’s instructions to keep your mouth healthy and ensure you get the best results from your Invisalign treatment.
